Literacy Night

Wednesday Night we had a literacy Night at our elementary school. I am so impressed with our school and the emphasis that teachers put on reading. They only wanted the 1st and 3rd graders to come this particular night. I lucked out seeing how I have a 1st and 3rd grader. They encourage the kids to wear their Halloween costumes which was great to have an excuse to wear them more than once. To start off the night the music teacher lead the kids in some Halloween songs that they have been learning. Easton got to play the tambourine. Then they split off into their own classrooms. I went with Easton and Aaron went to Abbey's class. The teachers went over with the students and parents the importance of reading and we played some fun games with rhyming and exercises in helping the kids retain what they are reading. I didn't know what to expect before we left, but it turned out to be a great night. We even got refreshments after. Now that makes it well worth it :)
Easton on stage doing what he does best....entertaining the crowd. He is suppose to be Indiana Jones.

Ty, in his superman costume. He didn't have to wear a costume but I couldn't talk him out of it after he saw his brother and sister in their costumes.
Abigail posing for her dad in front of her classroom. The costume description is a Southern Belle, but I told her that she was "Little Bo Peep". She said, "Who's that." I guess I need to do better at teaching my kids the nursery rhymes.

  1. This is so cute, Colette! Guess what, we got that exact same costume for Florie. I wonder if she knows who 'Little Bo Peep' is. Hmmm. Let's see how many nursery rhymes I've taught her... :) Hey, Teala is trying to contact you. She changed her blog address to:

    http://oureyewitness.blogspot.com/

You'll have to change yours so it links to hers again. She couldn't figure out how to post a comment on here. I'll let her know. Hope you have a great Halloween!
